چکیده

Type Ia Supernovae (SNe Ia) may originate from a wide variety of explosion scenarios and progenitor channels. They exhibit factor about 10 difference in brightness and, thus, differentiation the mass 56Ni->56Co->56 Fe. We present study on fate positrons within SNe order to evaluate their escape fractions energy spectra. Our detailed Monte Carlo transport simulations for gamma-rays include both beta + decay 56 Co pair production. simulate scenarios, including white dwarfs (WD) close Chandrasekhar mass, M(Ch), He-triggered explosions sub-M Ch WDs, dynamical mergers two WDs. For each model, we influence size morphology magnetic field between 1 1E13 G. Population synthesis based observed distribution was used estimate overall contributions Galactic due SN Ia. find that this is dominated by normal-bright Ia, where variations emitted are small. total contribution < 2% depending morphology, less than 6...20% M(Ch) sub-M(Ch), respectively.

Galactic Positrons From Localized Sources

The anomalous bump in the cosmic ray positron to electron ratio at 10 GeV can be explained as being a component from a point source that was originally harder than the primary electron background and degrades due to synchrotron and inverse Compton losses in the Galaxy while propagating to the Earth’s vicinity. The fit is better than can be obtained with homogeneous injection and is attributed t...

8 Thermonuclear Supernovae

The application of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) as distance indicators in cosmology calls for a sound understanding of these objects. Recent years have seen a brisk development of astrophysical models which explain SNe Ia as thermonuclear explosions of white dwarf stars. While the evolution of the progenitor is still uncertain, the explosion mechanism certainly involves the propagation of a ther...

Tidally-induced thermonuclear Supernovae

We discuss the results of 3D simulations of tidal disruptions of white dwarfs by moderate-mass black holes as they may exist in the cores of globular clusters or dwarf galaxies. Our simulations follow self-consistently the hydrodynamic and nuclear evolution from the initial parabolic orbit over the disruption to the build-up of an accretion disk around the black hole. For strong enough encounte...

3 D Models of Thermonuclear Supernovae

In this paper, we review the present state of theoretical models of thermonuclear supernovae, and compare their predicitions with the constraints derived from observations of Type Ia supernovae. The diversity of explosion mechanisms usually found in one-dimensional simulations is a direct consequence of the impossibility to resolve the flame structure under the assumption of spherical symmetry....

The Origin of Intergalactic Thermonuclear Supernovae

The population synthesis method is used to study the possibility of explaining the appreciable fraction of the intergalactic type-Ia supernovae (SN Ia), 20 −15%, observed in galaxy clusters (Gal-Yam et al. 2003) when close white dwarf binaries merge in the cores of globular clusters. In a typical globular cluster, the number of merging double white dwarfs does not exceed ∼ 10 per year per avera...
